NBA Ballers Series 3 Release Date and the 90s Collection: Price, Checklist, Where to Buy
Series 3 has no official date from ZURU, yet it has been selling in the US since late August 2026. The 90s Collection is a separate 15-figure capsule, a Target exclusive at $9.99 that hit shelves on September 6, 2026.

When did NBA Ballers Series 3 come out?
ZURU hasn't published an official release date for NBA Ballers Series 3, but it's already on US shelves and has been since late August 2026 at the latest.
How do I know, if the brand never said it? Amazon.com. The Series 3 two-pack has verified US buyer reviews going back to August 22, 2026, and you can't review a capsule nobody has received. Target carries the single capsule too. As far as I could find, ZURU's own site still stops at Series 2, which is why so many people end up typing the question into Google.
| Product | US status | Date |
|---|---|---|
| NBA Ballers Series 3 (single capsule) | On sale at Target | No official date |
| NBA Ballers Series 3 (2-pack) | In stock on Amazon.com | Reviews since Aug 22, 2026 |
| NBA Ballers 90s Collection | On sale, Target exclusive | Sep 6, 2026 |
The August 22 date is an inference from buyer reviews, not an announcement. If ZURU ever publishes a launch date, this is the line I'll update first.

Official Series 3 date from ZURU
ZURU's own product pages still stop at Series 2. No official launch date or checklist yet.
Is the 90s Collection Series 3?
No. The 90s Collection is its own product, with its own model number, its own UPC and its own Target listing. The mix-up is understandable, though.
Some retailers muddy it. ToyWiz, for example, sells the 90s capsule under a "Series 3 90's Collection" name. And both lines lean on legends, so the same faces show up in each. But if you compare the backs of the packaging, the numbers don't lie.
| Product | Model | UPC | Designs |
|---|---|---|---|
| NBA Ballers Series 2 capsule | Not listed | 193052077837 | 48 |
| NBA Ballers Series 3 capsule | 16702 | 193052097781 | 40 players |
| NBA Ballers Series 3 2-pack | 16708 | 193052102423 | 40 players |
| NBA Ballers 90s Collection | 16717 | 193052109002 | 15 |
So which one is "the real" Series 3? The 40-player numbered line. The 90s Collection is a themed throwback drop that lives next to it, the same way a store exclusive sits next to a mainline wave.
Price and where to buy in the US and UK
Target is the cheapest place for both: $9.99 for a 90s capsule and $9.99 for a Series 3 capsule. Everything else costs a bit more or comes in a bundle.

|---|---|---|---|
| Target (US) | 90s Collection capsule | $9.99 | Exclusive, on sale |

Prices checked on October 5, 2026. They move, so treat them as a reference.
A few things jump out. The 90s capsule is not on Amazon.com at all, which fits the "Only at Target" ribbon on its listing. ToyWiz asks three dollars more for the same capsule on preorder, so unless your Target is empty, I'd skip that. And Series 2 dropping to clearance is the classic sign that the shelf space is going to Series 3.
Target's 90s listing sat at 3.0 out of 5 from 6 ratings when I checked: three five-star and three one-star reviews. At least one of the low ones is about a store with nothing on the shelf, not about the figures.
What's inside each capsule
One figure, a player card, a mini ball and a court tile. That's the base kit Target lists for the 90s Collection, and it's what you see built up in the official photos.
| What you get | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Mystery figure | One of the 15 designs |
| Player card | Name, position and jersey number |
| Mini NBA ball | Goes in the figure's hand |
| Court tile | Clicks into tiles from other capsules to build a floor |
| Extra surprises | Vary, not guaranteed |
The court tile is the real hook, and that's no accident. Each one carries half a logo and a slice of the free throw line. Open one and you've got a loose square. Open six and suddenly half a court is sitting on your desk with the players planted on it. Sales trick? Totally. Does it work? It worked on me with Series 1, so I'm not going to pretend otherwise.
The capsule measures 3.74 x 3.74 x 3.74 in and weighs 0.19 lb. PVC, ages 3+, no batteries, one figure per capsule. Those are Target's official specs.

90s Collection checklist
Target's official panel shows the whole lineup, so for once there's no guessing. Five players, two mascots, sorted by rarity.
| Collectible | Team and jersey | Rarity |
|---|---|---|
| Vince Carter | Toronto Raptors · purple #15 | Common |
| Vince Carter | Toronto Raptors · white #15 | Common |
| Allen Iverson | Philadelphia 76ers · white #3 | Common |
| Allen Iverson | Philadelphia 76ers · red #3 | Common |
| Dennis Rodman | Chicago Bulls · white #91 | Common |
| Dennis Rodman | Chicago Bulls · black #91 | Common |
| Shaquille O'Neal | Orlando Magic · white #32 | Common |
| Shaquille O'Neal | Orlando Magic · blue #32 | Common |
| Magic Johnson | Los Angeles Lakers · purple #32 | Common |
| Magic Johnson | Los Angeles Lakers · gold #32 | Common |
| Dennis Rodman · special pose | Chicago Bulls · red #91 | Rare |
| Vince Carter · special pose | Toronto Raptors · purple #15 | Rare |
| Benny the Bull | Chicago Bulls · red #1 | Rare |
| The Raptor | Toronto Raptors · purple | Rare |
| Shaquille O'Neal · special pose | Los Angeles Lakers · gold #34 | Super rare |
How it splits by team
Chicago and Toronto get the best of it, which makes sense: they're the two teams that bring a mascot. Look at the panel and the Bulls and the Raptors take four slots each.
Chicago Bulls: 4 (Rodman x3 + Benny the Bull) · Toronto Raptors: 4 (Carter x3 + The Raptor) · Los Angeles Lakers: 3 (Magic x2 + Shaq super rare) · Orlando Magic: 2 (Shaq) · Philadelphia 76ers: 2 (Iverson).
If you're tracking the whole line, I keep the full NBA Ballers checklist with every series in my NBA Ballers collector guide (in Spanish), and the rest of the sports lines live on the ZURU Ballers hub (in Spanish).
Commons, rares and the Shaq super rare
Ten commons, four rares, one super rare. Simple on paper, but Target's wording trips people up.
The panel says "4 rare players". Two of those four slots are Benny the Bull and The Raptor, though, and they're not exactly players. So it's four rare designs, not four rare players. Small thing? Sure. But if you're building your checklist at home, you want it right from day one.
What really separates a rare from a common here is the sculpt. The ten commons stand in a neutral pose, no base. The rares get an action pose and a nameplate base: Rodman holding the ball up with green and blue hair, Carter driving to the rim with his tongue out. You can tell what you pulled from across the room.
And at the top, Shaq. Lakers gold, number 34, mouth open, both fists clenched. He's the chase of the set and ZURU treats him that way: on the back of the packaging, he's the only figure named. When a brand bothers to print one player's name on the box, it's telling you who to hunt.
In the official artwork the extras seem to follow rarity too: the rare Rodman comes with a hoop on a base and the super rare Shaq with a gold trophy. That's my read of the images, not something ZURU spells out, so don't count on it until more people post their pulls.
10, 4 and 1 are design counts, not odds. ZURU hasn't published pull rates for this set. One super rare out of fifteen designs doesn't mean one in every fifteen capsules. Without official odds, any ratio you see online is someone's estimate.
"When a brand prints one player's name on the back of the box, you already know who you'll be chasing." Víctor, looking at the back of the capsule
Repeat sculpts from Series 2 and Series 3
A new collection doesn't mean fifteen new sculpts. This is the part I'd want to know before opening a stack of capsules.
When I compared the 90s lineup with the Series 2 checklist, three pieces looked familiar: the special pose Shaq, Benny the Bull and The Raptor. Then there's Series 3. The white Bulls Rodman, number 91, shows up both in the main Series 3 image on Target and on the 90s panel. One Target reviewer went further and called the 90s set mostly the same as Series 3, apart from the Orlando Shaq, the throwback Iverson and the black Rodman.
Is ZURU selling us the same toys twice? Not quite. It reads more like a themed throwback pick with its own SKU than a wave of fifteen new molds. Without the official 40-player Series 3 checklist, I can't say exactly how big the overlap is, so take the reviewer's take as one buyer's view. If you already own a full Series 2 or you're deep into Series 3, expect a few doubles. Starting from zero? It's a great way into the line.
I covered the early Series 3 listings when they first showed up, in my NBA Ballers Series 3 article (in Spanish).

Confirmed vs. rumor
What Target, Amazon and the packaging show in writing, next to what gets repeated without a source. Myths are struck through; anything still unconfirmed is in amber.

My take: is 15 figures too few?
I like this one. Straight up. I've been saying for a while that 40-plus player Ballers waves are impossible to finish without spending a paycheck, and suddenly ZURU drops a short, focused set where you can see the finish line. Fifteen. Doable. And if you grew up watching Rodman change hair color every other week, nostalgia does the rest.
What bugs me is the reuse. A few repeat sculpts in a set of fifteen is a big share, and anyone sitting on a full Series 2 or a growing Series 3 pile is going to feel it. No odds bugs me too. In a set this small, knowing whether the super rare is one in twenty or one in two hundred completely changes whether you buy a full case.
Then there's the Target exclusive part. Ten bucks a capsule is fair for the figure plus the court tile. Having to drive to a store that may have an empty peg is less fun, and that is what at least one of the one-star reviews is about. My advice: check stock online before you go.
Quick questions
When does NBA Ballers Series 3 come out?
It's already out in the US. ZURU hasn't announced an official release date, but verified US buyer reviews of the Series 3 two-pack on Amazon.com go back to August 22, 2026, and Target sells the single capsule for $9.99.
Is NBA Ballers 90s Collection a Target exclusive?
Yes. Target lists it as a Target Exclusive with an Only at Target ribbon, at $9.99 per capsule, on sale since September 6, 2026. It isn't on Amazon.com or Walmart.com. ToyWiz takes preorders at $12.99.
How many NBA Ballers are in Series 3 and in the 90s Collection?
Series 3 has 40 players. The 90s Collection has 15 designs: 10 commons, 4 rares and 1 super rare. Two of the four rares are mascots, Benny the Bull and The Raptor.
Who is the super rare in the 90s Collection?
Shaquille O'Neal in the gold Los Angeles Lakers jersey, number 34, in a celebration pose. He's the only super rare and the only figure named on the back of the packaging.
Are the odds of pulling the super rare known?
No. ZURU hasn't published pull rates. The 10, 4 and 1 split tells you how many designs are in each tier, not how often they show up.
