ZURU NFL Ballers Series 1: Checklist, Chase Odds and Release Date, Out Now at Target
32 NFL stars in a blind capsule, officially licensed by the NFL and NFL Players. Mahomes and Allen are the chase at 1 in 120 capsules. Target has been selling it for $9.99 since October 4, 2026, ahead of the October 22 date ZURU gave everyone else.
What ZURU NFL Ballers Series 1 is
You crack open a ZURU NFL Ballers capsule and there's a tiny NFL star inside. There are 32 to collect, fully licensed, and two of them, the super rares, are the real chase.
It comes from ZURU, the same company behind NBA Ballers, WWE Ballers and the FIFA World Cup Ballers. And this is the big one for a US collector: it's the first time the Ballers formula goes to football. The license is double, NFL and NFL Players, the licensing arm of the players' union. In plain terms, they get the league shield plus each player's face and name.
You know the format. Blind capsule, you don't know who you'll pull, and a rarity ladder that keeps nudging you toward one more. Commons, rares, super rares. So who sits on that top rung? Hang on, I'm getting there.
What is ZURU NFL Ballers Series 1? A blind capsule with an official NFL and NFL Players license and 32 figures of football players: 24 commons, 6 rares and 2 super rares. It costs $9.99 at Target, where it has been on sale since October 4, 2026. ZURU's general release date is October 22, 2026.
Sources: ZURU's official announcement from June 2 (as carried by Licensing.biz, The Toy Insider and The Toy Book), NFL Players Inc., and the Target listing with ZURU's official images. What ZURU still hasn't published, like names for all 24 commons or the odds for the rares, I'll flag as unknown.
NFL Ballers release date: when and where
| Retailer | Date | Status (checked Oct 5, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Target | October 4, 2026 | In stock for shipping and store pickup · limit 2 per order |
| Walmart | October 22, 2026 (ZURU) | Not verified yet |
| Sporting goods stores | October 22, 2026 (ZURU) | No listing found |
| Amazon.com | None | No listing |
Target jumped the gun. Back in late September its listing carried a street date of October 4 and I didn't fully trust it, because ZURU had announced October 22 for Target, Walmart, Myer in Australia and sporting goods stores. Well, it was real: the capsule went live on that date and was in stock the next day, tagged as trending. Does that make October 22 meaningless? No. That's still the date ZURU gave for everyone else, so expect Walmart and the sports chains around then, not before.
NFL Ballers Series 1 checklist: 32 figures in 24, 6 and 2
ZURU's official roster sheet makes it clear at a glance: three tiers, 32 figures. How many of each and what sets them apart, in one table.
| Tier | Count | What sets it apart | Players |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 24 | Figure with mini football, helmet and field piece | Mahomes, Kelce, Allen, Burrow, Hurts, A.J. Brown (+18 with no official name) |
| Rare | 6 | Base with the player's name and a goal post | Rodgers, Burrow, Jefferson, Stroud, Hurts, McCaffrey |
| Super rare (chase) | 2 | Special base · 1 in 120 capsules | Mahomes and Allen |
And the names of the commons? ZURU is still keeping quiet. You can see all 24 on the sheet, with team and number, but the bases are too small to read. Named so far: the five from the June announcement plus A.J. Brown, the common ZURU uses as its example. Be careful with full lists of 24 floating around that treat guesses as facts.
The Target listing says “7 rare figures” and, in the same text, talks about wrestlers. That's copy and paste from other Ballers lines. The official sheet shows 6 rares, same as ZURU's announcement.
Chase odds: Mahomes and Allen at 1 in 120
The two super rares are Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. If you're chasing anything in this series, it's these two.
1:120: one super rare every 120 capsules, according to an official image on the Target listing. Nobody has published odds for the rares.
Why those two? Because they're the most marketable faces in the league right now. Mahomes is the Chiefs quarterback who has won it all, and Allen leads the Bills. On the sheet, Mahomes stands on a “Super Bowl Champions” base holding the MVP trophy. Allen gets a stadium scoreboard base; his MVP trophy comes from the announcement, I can't make it out in the image.
And now that there's a number, my bet goes up. One in 120 is a brutal pull for a ten dollar capsule. If NFL Ballers does half as well as NBA Ballers, champion Mahomes is going to cost a fortune on the secondary market once the first wave sells through.
Mahomes and Allen also show up as commons on the sheet. Pulling a Mahomes doesn't mean you hit the chase: the chase is the one on the special base. Check before you celebrate.
The 6 rares: name base and goal post
Joe Burrow is the rare ZURU shows as its example, and he explains the middle tier: the figure stands on a base with his name and comes with a yellow goal post. The full rare list is confirmed, so you can trust this table.
| Player (rare) | Team | Number |
|---|---|---|
| Aaron Rodgers | Pittsburgh Steelers | 8 |
| Joe Burrow | Cincinnati Bengals | 9 |
| Justin Jefferson | Minnesota Vikings | 18 |
| C.J. Stroud | Houston Texans | 7 |
| Jalen Hurts | Philadelphia Eagles | 1 |
| Christian McCaffrey | San Francisco 49ers | 23 |
One thing people get wrong: the team helmet is not a rare exclusive. The common on the sheet has one too. What really marks a rare is the name base. And there's a little trap for completists like me: Burrow and Hurts appear twice, as a common and as a rare. What does that mean for you? Finishing your favorite player can take more than one capsule, duplicates included.
What's inside each capsule
ZURU put one image per rarity on the Target listing, and the contents change quite a bit from tier to tier.
| Rarity | Example | What the image shows |
|---|---|---|
| Common | A.J. Brown | Figure, mini football, team helmet, NFL field piece, player card and black Ballers card |
| Rare | Joe Burrow | Figure on a name base, helmet, yellow goal post, player card and Ballers card |
| Super rare | Patrick Mahomes | Figure on a “Super Bowl Champions” base with MVP trophy, champions cap, player card and Ballers card |
The surprise? The common isn't bare. It comes with its football, its helmet and a piece of field. The super rare goes the other way: no field pieces, it's all celebration, with the champions cap and the trophy in hand. On Target the capsule measures 3.74 inches per side and weighs 0.21 lb, PVC, ages 3 and up.
This comes from the images, not from an official contents list. Target's text says commons and rares both include a field piece and mentions a “player poster”, but the rare image shows a goal post and the cards look like cards. I describe what you can see.
Is there an NFL Ballers Series 2 or Series 3?
No. NFL Ballers Series 1 is the only wave ZURU has announced, and Target lists nothing else for the line.
So where does “NFL Ballers Series 3” come from? My guess is people mixing the two lines up. NBA Ballers is already on its third series, sold at Target for $9.99 too, and the capsules look alike on the shelf. If that's the one you're after, I covered it in NBA Ballers Series 3 release date and the 90s Collection. As for football, NFL Players Inc. talks about “more than 32 players” in its deal note, which leaves the door open, but no second wave, multipack or exclusive has been announced as of October 5, 2026.
Where to buy NFL Ballers in the US
| Store | Price | Status (Oct 5, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Target | $9.99 | In stock · shipping and store pickup · limit 2 |
| Walmart | No price | Could not verify |
| Amazon.com | No price | No listing yet |
| UK retailers | No price | Nothing found |
Right now Target is the only sure thing, and only the single capsule exists: no 2-pack, 4-pack or team pack. Hunting in store? Take the codes below, they make it much easier to ask an employee or check the app. Amazon.com doesn't have it yet; searching there only brings up NBA, WWE and FIFA Ballers, plus a different product called NFL Big Shot Ballers that has nothing to do with ZURU.
| Code | Value | Where |
|---|---|---|
| UPC | 193052097798 | US capsule |
| Target | TCIN 94977198 · DPCI 087-26-7441 | Target listing |
| ZURU item | 16703 (MPN 16703GQ1) | Back of the capsule |
The Ballers family: NBA, WWE, FIFA and now NFL
NFL Ballers didn't come out of nowhere. It's the fourth leg of a line ZURU has been growing for a while, starting with NBA Ballers (in Spanish). If that's where you came from, there's also NBA Ballers Series 1 (in Spanish) with its 38 figures listed.
Add WWE Ballers (in Spanish) and the FIFA World Cup 2026 Ballers (in Spanish), which is where that 7 rares mistake most likely comes from. Did the line need another sport? In the US, football is king, so honestly it was only a matter of time. My full series guide is here: ZURU NFL Ballers guide (in Spanish).
My take
I'll be honest: with the official images in front of me, I like NFL Ballers more than I did in June. The common isn't filler, it brings a helmet, a football and a piece of field, and that changes how it feels to open a capsule that isn't the good one. And the Mahomes super rare, with the champions base and cap, is one of the flashiest things ZURU has done in Ballers.
What would hold me back? The 1:120. Chasing Mahomes capsule by capsule gets expensive fast, and with a 2 per order limit at Target you're not buying a case in one go anyway. If you're a fan of one team, I'd open a few for fun and go to trades or the secondary market for the chase. I'm a collector in Spain and my YouTube unboxings are in Spanish, so I'll be watching this one from afar until it reaches more stores.
Quick questions
What is ZURU NFL Ballers Series 1?
A ZURU blind capsule with an official NFL and NFL Players license. There are 32 football player figures: 24 commons, 6 rares and 2 super rares. It's the first time ZURU takes its Ballers line to the NFL, after NBA, WWE and FIFA Ballers.
When do NFL Ballers come out and how much are they?
Target has been selling them since October 4, 2026, at $9.99 per capsule, and had them in stock on October 5 with a limit of 2 per order. ZURU's general release date is October 22, 2026, for Walmart, sporting goods stores and Myer in Australia.
Who are the NFL Ballers chase figures and what are the odds?
The two super rares are the chase: Patrick Mahomes, on a Super Bowl Champions base with the MVP trophy, and Josh Allen. According to an official ZURU image, you get one super rare every 120 capsules (1:120). Both players also come as commons; the chase is the version on the special base.
How many figures and rares are in NFL Ballers Series 1?
32 figures in three tiers: 24 commons, 6 rares and 2 super rares. The 6 rares are Aaron Rodgers, Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson, C.J. Stroud, Jalen Hurts and Christian McCaffrey. The Target listing says 7 rares, but that's copied from another Ballers line: the official sheet shows 6.
Is there an NFL Ballers Series 2 or Series 3?
No. As of October 5, 2026, Series 1 is the only NFL Ballers wave ZURU has announced. Searches for Series 3 usually mean NBA Ballers Series 3, a different ZURU line also sold at Target for $9.99.
Can I buy NFL Ballers on Amazon?
Not yet. As of October 5, 2026, Amazon.com has no NFL Ballers listing; the search only shows NBA, WWE and FIFA Ballers. Target is the only US retailer with confirmed stock.
